National Animated Film Festival 2020: three films from Atelier de Sèvres selected

The animation degree course shines at the festivals! Three films made by graduates compete at the National Animation Film Festival.

The official selection for the 2020 edition of the National Animated Film Festival was announced a few days ago.

A total of 540 films were viewed and 105 were selected. Among them were three short films made by animation degree course students from Atelier de Sèvres.

Synopsis: “They loved each other for a long time, a long time ago. One of them fears they haven’t felt this time together pass. For the other, it’s the time that has passed and that which is to come. They no longer understand each other. One is aware of this, the other isn’t. On the road to their holiday, a strange accident will bring their problems to the surface."

Le bruit du saké by Thais Sartorius

Synopsis: “One summer, a father and his daughter, Japanese farmers, see their harvest almost totally wiped out by drought. To comfort them, the father invites a Yokai musician to their home one evening. But he soon loses control and the monsters invade the house a little more every night. The girl feels exhausted and helpless confronted with this uncontrollable invasion."

En vérité l’amour by Antoine Fröhlich

Synopsis: “Famous dancer Bernard Lessaic is unable to admit his feelings for his old friend Honey. A devilish being taunts Bernard about it and brings him down even more as he slowly dies. Meanwhile, a medieval city is gradually eaten away by this same demonic character, while a young woman in armour is desperately trying to open a door..."

The Rennes Métropole National Animated Film Festival

Founded in 1983 by the French Association of Animated Cinema, the National Animation Film Festival shines a spotlight on French productions.

For over 30 years, the festival has been an unmissable event for French animated film professionals and amateurs.

Since 2018, the National Animated Film Festival has been organised in Rennes. This year, it will be held from 8th to 12th April 2020. The event aims to promote the best of French creation and showcase animated cinema through screenings and competitions.
